A Mother’s Journey: Held by Faith is Wendy Rollin’s deeply personal true story of trauma, loss, motherhood, survival, and the faith that carried her through circumstances she once thought might destroy her.
After surviving painful experiences of her own—including trauma, violence, and devastating loss—Wendy believed she understood what it meant to survive. But one ordinary February day, a phone call changed her family forever. Her seventeen-year-old son, Matthew, had been involved in a tragic accident that would claim the life of a little girl he deeply loved.
What followed was a mother’s fight for her son.
Crushed beneath grief and guilt, Matthew began slipping into a darkness Wendy feared might take him from her too. As he withdrew from life, she stayed beside him through breakdowns, sleepless nights, isolation, anger, despair, and moments when keeping him alive became her only focus. Through it all, Wendy prayed, watched, fought, and held on to Jesus when she no longer had the strength to hold everything together herself.
Interwoven with Matthew’s journey are the wounds Wendy carried from her own past—experiences that had taught her about trauma, shame, grief, fear, and survival long before she understood how deeply she would one day need those lessons as a mother.
