Grief does not always come through one devastating moment. Sometimes it arrives in layers, leaving us overwhelmed by losses we have not had time to process.
In this episode of Held by Faith: The Podcast, author Jen Conrad shares the deeply personal experiences that inspired her book, Finding God in the Trenches. After facing the loss of a family business, heartbreak surrounding an adoption journey, the death of her mother, and other painful struggles, Jen found herself exhausted, anxious, and questioning where God was in the middle of it all.
Although there were times when God felt distant, Jen eventually began recognizing His presence in Scripture, meaningful conversations, small reminders, and the people He placed around her.
Her story is an honest reminder that faith does not require us to hide our grief, anger, or unanswered questions. God invites us to come to Him exactly as we are—even when all we can do is hold on.
Jen also discusses the importance of therapy, trusted friendships, surrender, and allowing ourselves time to grieve. Healing may not follow a straight path, but even in life’s deepest trenches, we are not alone.
Listen to the full conversation to hear Jen’s powerful message for anyone experiencing grief, disappointment, or a season when God feels far away.
